Town & Country Family Restaurant Alden

We did not like the Town & Country Family Restaurant in Alden and it received a 1 fin.

We visited this restaurant before we started doing formal ratings with photos, and reviews.

We are adding it on our site because we really wanted to keep a log of all the places we have been in the past 2 years.

The Hearth & Vine – Lockport NY

Location: 5949 Campbell Blvd. Lockport, NY  14094

Phone:  716-434-8463

Price: $  10.00

Ambiance: The night I was there the restaurant had just reopen for business and was very busy.  It's a pleasant building and has a large bar area off the side of the dining room.  I am not sure what it's style is, but it offers a friendly atmosphere.  My only complaint is that they are using fold up chairs in the dining room and they were very uncomfortable  they reminded me of chairs used for playing cards.

Service: Our service was ok.  Since this was a grand opening weekend I think the service probably suffered a little.  Our waitress was very nice, but our meals came out at different times and they were a bit confused.

Food: They had a happy hour going on that included a appetizer table while we waited for our table to celebrate their grand opening. The appetizers were great including veggies, Swedish meatballs, chicken fingers, quiche etc.

I order their Friday fish fry, and it was ok.  I think the focus of the restaurant is not Fish Fry, and that other items on the menu might be more interesting. It was not served with rye bread and only had one side, coleslaw, that tasted more store bought than homemade.

Recommendation: I would probably go back but I would wait for them to become more established first.

Wallenwein’s Hotel, East Aurora NY

Location: 641 Oakwood Ave, East Aurora NY 14052

Phone:  716-652-9801

Price: $  9.99

Ambiance: Wallenweins is located in the Village of East Aurora in a Century old building and they have added a large front porch for outside dining with a roof over head.  The night we were there was a beautiful Buffalo night and there was no seating available outside so we ate inside.  We were a bit disappointed that they did not have any air condition on but there was plenty of seats available.    The decorations inside the restaurant have a sports theme, including turf from the Buffalo Bills Stadium.  The building is old but claims it's own charm because of it's historic value.

Service: We did not have to wait for seating inside and the waitress was quick to take our orders.  Our waitress took good care of us, she was efficient but not overly  friendly.  Although it took quite a while for our food to arrive at our table, it was very hot and worth the wait.

Food: We both ordered the Beer Battered Fish Fry with French fries.  It was served with a slice of Rye bread, coleslaw, macaroni salad and french fries.  The salad were very good and it was nice to have the slice of Rye bread served with our meal.  The Macaroni salad was very good as well and our fish was excellent, it was very hot, very crispy, the fish was tender and tasty.  The batter used for the fish was particularly flavorful.  I don't know what beer they used but the flavor came through very well.

Recommendation: I would recommend Wallenwein's for a fish fry, it very good and the location is fun
