Buffalo Fish Fry Reviewing any diner, dive, or restaurant that serves fish fry's.

W.J. Morrissey

Location: 30 Mississippi Street, Buffalo NY  (Cobblestone District)

Price: $  12.50

Ambiance: The outside of the restaurant is very inviting.  The restaurant doe s look to be much larger from the outside than it is on the inside, but this is not a problem.   When you enter the decor is very Irish and you can tell that the owned have worked hard to have their theme carry throughout the place.  The wood was beautiful, the bar was inviting and different, there were bistro tables place around the bar area that were very appealing.

We were seated right away and were presented with menu, on the cover of the menu was the story of the restaurant.  They have take every effort to create a authentic Irish Pub and imported the wood and furniture.

Service: Our waitress was very energetic and friendly.  She has only worked there for a few weeks but was quick to tell us that she loved it there.    She also told us since it was restaurant week, we could have our 2 fish fry, two soups and 2 drafts for $20.12.

Food: We had the soup which was served hot and quickly.  I had the New England Clam Chowder, my husband had the Potato Leek soup.  Both soups were very good.  Our fish came out next, and was very hot.  We could not eat it for a few minutes.  It was fresh and crispy, service on a abundance of french fries with a small amount of Coleslaw .  We were disappointed that the traditional side of potato and macaroni salads were not served, nor was the slice of rye bread.

Recommendation: I would recommend WJ Morrissey for a fish fry, it's good, but not a good representation of a Buffalo Fish Fry.
